Seminar on the Philippine Registry of Heritage for the Province of Cavite

The Philippine Registry of Heritage (PRH), in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Cavite, recently conducted a 2-day Orientation-Workshop with the objective to guideLGUs in the maintenance of their Local Cultural Inventories (LCI). The discussions covered an Overview of the Cultural Heritage Law and the Philippine Registry of Heritage, Definitions and Grade Levels of Cultural Property, An Introduction to the Registry Forms, and Guidelines on the Submission and Maintenance of Local Cultural Inventories. All LGUs in Cavite were invited through coordination with the Provincial Government.
On the first day of the orientation-workshop, the discussion covered the Overview of the Cultural Heritage Law, the Philippine Registry of Heritage, Definitions and Grade Levels of Cultural Property. The participants were familiarized with the various Registry Forms and its minimum data requirements, thoroughly highlighting the importance of each data field. Additionally, the PRH team catered a game called "Jeopardy! Culture Edition" to serve as a refresher from the topics that were discussed.
To conclude, the last session focused on the Discussion on the Registry Forms and Cultural Property Documentation and an in-depth discussion of the Submission and Maintenance of a Local Cultural Inventory. The groups also presented their outputs from the Workshop Proper where they identified the correct Registry Forms to use based on the domain of the cultural property, highlighting the data fields which are newly updated, and more. The outcome emphasized how essential it is to make sure the data in their LCIs are updated on a regular basis.
Overall, the orientation-workshop provided valuable skills, information, and resources they needed to recognize and record their LCI. This would ultimately result in the continued maintenance of their respective LCIs and aid the protection and preservation of Cavite's rich cultural legacy.
