Orientation on the Philippine Registry of Heritage (PRH) and Workshop on Documentation of Cultural Properties in the Province of Nueva Ecija

PALAYAN CITY—In response to a request from the Provincial Tourism Office of Nueva Ecija, the Philippine Registry of Heritage (PRH) Office conducted a technical assistance activity on the maintenance of Local Cultural Inventories (LCIs) for the Province of Nueva Ecija and its component local government units (LGUs) on 29-30 September 2025 at Palayan City, Nueva Ecija. Despite the postponement of the original event date due to government work suspension and inclement weather, the actual event proceeded without issue. The workshop was attended by tourism officers from the various LGUs and representatives from state universities and local museums within the province.

Ms. Hannah Ashley Cruz oriented the participants on the topics for the two-day workshop.

In the morning of the first day, the objective was to introduce the participants to the basics of RA 11961 and the services offered by the PRH Office. This was followed by a discussion on cultural property definitions. A presentation on object documentation was then covered in the afternoon.

At the end of the first day sessions, the PRH team opened the floor for questions from the participants. Some of the points  include the submission of notable personalities and institutions to the Registry,  the differences between Cultural Mapping and Registry Forms, and the possibility of acquiring funding from the Commission.

On the second day, the entire morning was dedicated to group activities. First, the teams played a session of Jeopardy! Culture Edition. Second, the participants proceeded with the main workshop activity of assessing LCI submission and improving Registry Forms. After a short lunch break, the groups presented their outputs which were critiqued by the PRH team. Generally, the groups were able to apply their learnings from the sessions. Any sections that were overlooked were pointed out by the PRH team during the critiques.
