May 2024 Philippine Registry of Heritage Update
The Philippine Registry of Heritage (PRH) or the Talapamana ng Pilipinas recently published its Monthly Status Report for May 2024. Click the link below to see the current number of cultural properties included in the Registry and the Local Cultural Inventories (LCIs) submitted last month.
MAY 2024 STATUS REPORT
NOTE: The deadline for 2024 LCI submissions is on December 15, 2024. Pursuant to the DILG-NCCA Joint Memorandum Circular 2021-001 or the Amended Guidelines on the Standardized Submission of LCI under the PRECUP for the Issuance of Certificate of Compliance (COC) to Local Government Units (LGUs), if the LGU complies with the documentary and minimum data requirements, a COC will be received from the Commission. IN PHOTO: President Jose P. Laurel Memorial Shrine | Laurel Ancestral House (Marked Structure, NHCP; Registered Property, Province of Batangas; Registered Property, City of Tanauan, Batangas)
Built in 1880, the President Jose P. Laurel Memorial Shrine in Tanauan City, Batangas, is an ancestral house that honours the legacy of the Philippines third president. This ancestral house was restored by Jose P. Laurel’s son Mariano and daughter-in-law Alicia on March 9, 1964 and was donated to the national government to serve as a public library. It also houses Jose P. Laurel’s memorabilia. The 2-storey house has a ground floor of stone and an upper level of wood with wooden posts, sliding capiz windows and a floor of brightly polished wooden planks.
